Job Summary:
The Senior Data Modeler will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing complex data models to support our business operations and strategic objectives. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs, translating those needs into data models, and ensuring that data is structured in a way that is accessible, reliable, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Modeling: Design and develop logical and physical data models that meet the needs of the business. Ensure data models are well-documented and adhere to best practices.
• Data Integration: Collaborate with ETL developers and data engineers to integrate data from various sources into a unified data model.
• Analysis & Design: Work with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable data models.
• Data Governance: Implement and enforce data governance standards, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity across the organization.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize data models and queries for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Documentation & Training: Create comprehensive documentation for data models and provide training to team members on data modeling best practices.
• Tool Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend data modeling tools and technologies that align with the organization’s goals and technology stack.
• Project Management: Lead and manage data modeling projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data modeling, with a strong background in designing and implementing complex data models in a business environment.
• Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin Data Modeler, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, Microsoft Visio).
o Strong understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling techniques.
o Experience with SQL and other data manipulation languages.
o Knowledge of data integration and ETL processes.
• Soft Skills:
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
o Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), TOGAF) are a plus.
