Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Development to lead their revenue growth initiatives and drive strategic partnerships. This role is a critical part of the leadership team, responsible for developing and executing strategies to expand the client base, strengthen relationships, and enhance market presence.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in sales and business development, preferably within professional services, Cyber or Managed Security Services (MSS). This individual will act as both a “player” by contributing directly to revenue generation and a “coach” by leading and mentoring a high-performing business development team.
In this role, you will collaborate with executive leadership to align sales initiatives with company goals, identify new market opportunities, and ensure the long-term success of client relationships. Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Serve as a “player/coach,” spending 40% of your time managing a personal quota and 60% leading, mentoring, and building a high-performing business development team.
• Revenue Growth: Develop and execute strategies to drive new business and expand existing accounts.
• Team Building: Recruit, train, and manage a results-driven business development team while fostering a culture of accountability and success.
• Process Optimization: Implement scalable, data-driven sales processes that drive efficiency and measurable outcomes.
• Industry Expertise: Stay informed on cybersecurity trends, market opportunities, and competitor activities to ensure the company’s solutions remain relevant and competitive.
• Market Expansion: Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and emerging trends to drive business growth. Develop and execute strategies to expand the company’s footprint into untapped regions, industries, or verticals.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to align sales and business development initiatives with the company’s overall strategic goals. Provide input on long-term growth planning, including product or service development and market positioning.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in professional services, Managed Security Services (MSS) or Cyber.
• 5+ years in a sales management capacity.
• Experience selling to State, Local, and Education (SLED) clients would be a plus.
• Proven track record of success in sales management and leadership.
• Strong collaboration and team building skills.
• Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
• Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to create and execute data-driven strategies.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
